Bando Guglielmo
“G. Guglielmo” Competition: violin-piano duo (9th edition, 2026)
The Friends of Music of Padua, the “Omizzolo – Peruzzi” Music Foundation of Padua, the Guido Alberto Fano Music Archive of Venice non-profit organization, the Settimane Musicali al Teatro Olimpico (Vicenza), in collaboration with CIDIM of Rome (Italian National Music Committee), announce the eighth edition of a National Selection to identify TWO young violin-piano duos to whom to entrust several concerts in the promoters' 2026 artistic programs.
The selection is a tribute to the memory of the eminent Paduan violinist Giovanni Guglielmo (1935-2017). The selection also aims to promote the music of Italian composers of the “Generation of the Eighties” and the early 20th century.
The selection is reserved for young people of Italian nationality and will be based on artistic qualifications and the commission's listening to recent audio/video material from the duo's repertoire (CD, DVD, online) - lasting at least 30 minutes. As of October 31, 2025, the average age of the duo members must not exceed 30 years (the sum of the two ages must not exceed 60).
The selection will be made by November 30, 2025, by a committee composed of Vitale Fano (artistic director of the Fondazione Musicale Omizzolo Peruzzi), Federico Guglielmo (violinist, son of Giovanni Guglielmo), Filippo Juvarra (artistic director of the Amici della Musica di Padova), and Sonig Tchakerian (violinist, artistic director of the Settimane Musicali at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza).
